I was born and brought up in Hull, and have also studied and worked down south, but since 1999 this lovely house in Lincolnshire has been our home.
I have always loved baking and over many years I have fine tuned my baking skills and eaten my way through a lot of cake. I have supplied shops and tearooms with baked goods, and I had a pop up tearoom at Gunby Hall in 2010 and returned there as the baker in 2014. In between that I also had my own little shop and tearoom in Spilsby. Now after taking some time out, I have the opportunity to do things just how I like them – and hopefully just how you like them too.
I am passionate about baking and love to produce food that makes people happy. I have a huge cookbook collection (which you are welcome to look through) and there’s nothing I like better than recipe testing and tinkering. Not eating it all is more of a problem …….
I also love to make my own jams, jellies, curds and cordials, and I relish the different things that each season brings. The arrival of the elderflowers and gooseberries is especially delicious, and other highlights are roses (to crystallise the petals), strawberries and raspberries – and later in the year I become a little obsessed with quinces.
It’s all about the taste.
